Programs
The Kohli Foundation for Sociology aims to strengthen the basic core of sociology rather than focusing on specific applied topics. It focuses on sociological research, the development of young scholars at universities and research institutes, the infrastructures for the discipline, and the public awareness of sociology. The activities of the Kohli Foundation for Sociology are European and international in scope.
Types of Programs
Our funding programs include the Kohli Prize for Sociology, the Infrastructure Prize for Sociology, Kohli Fellowships at the WZB and EUI, and support for other initiatives (such as “Meet the mentor” event at selected sociology conferences). We work closely with sociology associations around the globe and are approachable for ideas that may impact the field. We are generally open to research across the entire theoretical and methodological spectrums. Particular support is given to life course and generational sociology, as well as to comparative research within Europe and on the relationship between Europe and the other world regions. We do not engage in project funding of sociological research aside from the fellowships.
