Dialogue

The goal of the Dialogue program line is to strengthen the exchange between sociological research and socio-cultural fields of practice, and to highlight sociology as a core social science discipline in terms of its analytical, theoretical, and empirical strengths.

It includes the two funding formats Sociology on Stage and Sociology Backstage.

Sociology on Stage

Sociology on Stage offers financial support for projects by arts and cultural institutions
(theaters, museums, etc.) that bring sociological questions, analyses, and ways of think
ing into dialogue with creative, aesthetic, performative, or cultural contexts, thereby
making them accessible to a broader public.

The Kohli Foundation invites theater and cultural professionals to bring sociological
perspectives on stage in ways that deliberately go beyond academic event formats.

To apply, please send a brief description of the planned event – including how it aligns
with the grant format (target audience, focus) – along with a rough cost estimate in a
single PDF document (maximum 2 pages total) via email to the following address:

Applications may be submitted on an ongoing basis and will be considered until the
annual budget has been exhausted.

Sociology Backstage

Sociology Backstage supports special events that facilitate dialogue about sociology as both an organization and a field of practice. The aim is to further develop the discipline and ensure its long-term viability as a core social science.

This includes, for example, events dedicated to the history of sociology, those that facilitate dialogue among various sociological associations, or those that discuss the broader role and responsibility of sociology in society.
